Chinese New Year is on the corner. Many old hand dropshippers know well about the impact of the Chinese Spring Festival and will prepare it in advance.
For some newbies, we will start from the beginning to explain what’s the Spring Festival and how it will impact your dropshipping business. If you are already familiar with these, just jump to the last part-how to cope with Spring Festival.
What’s the Spring Festival?
Spring Festival is the traditional Chinese festival for the Chinese New Year for about 23 days. People will go back home to reunite with their family members to celebrate this holiday together. And the Statutory holidays are 7 days from 11th to 17th February this year.
How will the Chinese Spring Festival Impact Dropshipping Business?
Normally, factories will start their holidays 10-15 days earlier than statutory holidays, so the workers will have enough time to go home and reunite with their families. Usually, factories will gradually start to close in late January. And factories begin to resume work gradually around 19th February.
But most of the workers haven’t back to factories at that time, so manufacturers can only ship out products that have inventories in their warehouses. The Spring Festival holiday finishes on 26th February this year and the factories will gradually back to normal by that time.
The shutdown of the factories in China will, for sure, cause a delay in order fulfillment. This means even if you have orders come in, you process them on CJ. Usually, our purchasing team members will go to place orders in 1688 or with local suppliers.
Still, due to the holiday break, the regular supplier for your products might not have the products you ordered this time because their factory is closed. So CJ staff will have to spend more time contacting the seller that their factory hasn’t closed and have the products stocked. There also can be cases when our team finally finds a supplier that has stock, but the local logistics have shut down.
Due to the worsening of China’s epidemic right now, we can predict that factories might close earlier than the expected day this year and the restoration date will have a great chance to be prolonged. That’s why we sincerely suggest you pre-stock products in our warehouses to avoid out-of-stock.
According to the records of previous years, international logistics will stop collecting parcels during the holiday, and DHL will function normally regardless of holidays.
However, this year we haven’t heard any news from DHL for Spring Festival arrangements, and other international logistics will remain the same as in past years.
The good news is the ePacket from China to overseas countries will normally transport during the holiday this year and the transit time isn’t too bad. However, due to the shortage of workforce during the holiday, parcels’ shipping information might not be updated in time.
How to Cope with this Break?
On our side, CJ will take seven days off, the same as statutory holidays from 11th to 17th February. We have arranged some staff on duty during the seven days holiday to ensure the operation of CJdropshipping.
Except for the 11th February night, which is Chinese new year’s eve will be no one on duty. Other times, all of the departments will arrange for staff to work during the holiday.
If you have any concerns or questions, you can still contact our agent in the chat room or other contact methods like Skype, Whatsapp, and Email. Our sourcing team will also work at home to ensure your sourcing needs. However, the sourcing time may take longer than usual.
And this year, our China warehouses staffs will still be working to ensure orders can be dispatched during break time. 30 people in the Jinhua warehouse, 22 people in the Yiwu warehouse, and 8 people in the Shenzhen warehouse, in a total of 60 people from the China warehouse will be on standby to fulfill your orders during the holiday. And our overseas warehouses won’t be affected, and all the order dispatch will remain normal.
On the dropshipper side, we suggest selling products from our overseas warehouses. Or pre-stock products right now to our China warehouses or overseas warehouses.
With the stocked goods, you won’t worry about order fulfillment during the holiday.
With ePacket shipping and pre-stocked products, you will survive this dropshipping winter. Especially when other dropshippers are anxious about how to fulfill orders and don’t know how to deal with customer complaints, you can sit and relax, waiting for us to dispatch your orders. Otherwise, you will have to put an extended shipping time on your website, to try to diminish the impact.
Final Words
Less than 2 weeks to the point that factories will gradually all closed. If you are planning pre-stock products, you may need to hurry up your time. From our latest news, more and more factories have advanced their holiday to 15th January due to the worsening of China’s epidemic situation. Don’t wait until the last minute to stock inventories. Let’s survive this dropshipping winter together
